Sauvignon Cabernet Reserve Wine

The sauvignon cabernet reserve is one of the most best wines in the world. It is known for its bold flavors and excellent aroma by wine enthusiasts. Cabernet reserve wine is produced slightly differently from regular sauvignon wine and therefore it has a unique and highly regarded taste. The process of making a reserve wine includes a multitude of different techniques that can make the wine taste better and last longer. This is why reserve wine is prized by wine drinkers and collectors as bottle are made to be special. But that is why the price tends to be higher for cabernet reserve wine.

As people look at the different offerings of a wine shop they might go for a Sauvignon red wine from a good winery which typically costs $10 to $15. But they will also see the same winery’s single vineyard or reserve wine right next to it that costs 2 or 3 times the price. We have all wondered if the cabernet reserve wine is worth the higher price. There are many excellent wineries making very fine wines for $15 or less. Therefore, why even bother with the more expensive wines? To answer this question it is good to know what goes into the making of a reserve wine and why they tend to cost more.

There are several more expensive cultivating techniques used for reserve wines. Many wineries prune back and discard some of the grapes on each vine before they ripen. Also, after they ripen, the lower quality grapes from each vineyard will be separated and used for less-expensive wines. Therefore only the best grapes will be used for the reserve wines. Also, reserve wines are usually from older vines with better roots. As the roots grow deeper into the earth, they will enter different layers of soil and absorb more flavors and complexity. Older vines tend to produce fewer grapes. But these grapes are of higher quality since every grape receives more energy and nutrients from the vine and roots.

For reserve wines, the grapes are sometimes hand picked. This allows only those that are perfect that day. It is much more difficult and costly to use than hand picking. Many vineyards now use organic growing methods which are more expensive compared to traditional methods. But they use fewer chemicals that can affect the grapes. Cabernet reserve wine also receive more attention in the cellars. It is common for the wine to be placed in smaller, higher grade, and more expensive oak barrels. Newer oak barrels will be used, requiring the purchase of more barrels. The older barrels will then be used to create regular sauvignon red wine. Of course, sauvignon cabernet reserve wines take much longer to make, which also can increase the price.
